A heart of Compassion

I found a link to a blog about a woman named Katy. She has a serious life threatning infection since giving birth to her daughter.

I read the blog. It brought tears to my eyes.

I have never met this family, but instantly I was filled with compassion for them. A deep urge to pray. And pray I will do.

Here is the blog if you want to read it:

My Savior

I have been feeling a bit down, or discouraged lately. There are just some things I am working through. Today, it is rainy. Following a week of gorgeous weather. Yet today, I am feeling better than I have. The reason…the smell. Ok maybe not the smell, but I had to mention how wonderful it smells outside today. One of my favorite things in the whole world is the smell of rain after it’s been sunny. Usually it doesn’t happen until it’s been hot, but I guess a week of sunshine will do it too! There is just something about that smell. For years I have loved it. It makes these rainy days so much better, well at least the first one!

No, the real reason I am feeling better is the Lords little reminders that he cares for me. Today it came in the form of a song. It’s by Aaron Shust called, My Savior. I heard it the first time a few years ago, and have loved it since. Ryan on the other hand….

Not the point. The point is this song. It always reminds my heart of the love my Savior has for me. Not just that he died, but that he really cares for the little things that happen in my life. And lately, I need that reminder.

My Savior
I am not skilled to understand
What God has willed, what God has planned
I only know at His right hand
Stands one who is my Savior

I take Him at His word and deed
Christ died to save me; this I read
And in my heart I find a need
Of Him to be my savior

That He would leave His place on high
And come for sinful man to die
You count it strange, so once did I
Before I knew my Savior

Chorus (2x's)
My Savior loves, My Savior lives
My Savior's always there for me
My God: He was, my God; He is
My God is always gonna be

Yes, living, dying, let me bring
My strength, my solace from this spring;
That He who lives to be my King
Once died to be my Savior

That He would leave His place on high
And come for sinful man to die
You count it strange, so once did I
Before I knew my Savior

My Savior loves, My Savior lives
My Savior loves, My Savior lives

Valentine's Day

A few years ago I was very anti valentine’s day. I claimed it was just a “Hallmark Holiday”. I despised it. I remember one year I had a really bad v-day….and I posted it on facebook or something. One of my friends wrote me back and said, “you won’t hate it when you’re not single”. I was miserable so I just laughed. I had always said I didn’t hate it because I was single, I hated it because of what it stood for.

I was wrong. I met Ryan. Ryan changed everything.

I remember our first Valentine’s day together. We were engaged, and living in two different cities. We celebrated the weekend before, he spoiled me. Took me to dinner. It was great. But we knew we wanted to see each other on the actual day. So we met halfway—Longview. We had Starbucks, and had to part ways all too soon. It was by far the most memorable Valentine’s Day. Last year Ry took me to the beach for a day. Followed by take out from PF Changs…again, a wonderful time.

This year, I was excited for Valentine’s day to arrive. Something has changed in me. Sure, it has something to do with the fact that I am married now...and I will admit that. But I love that there is a special day, where I can go all out and celebrate the love I have for Ryan. I realize that I don’t need a special day, but I love that it is a good excuse.

I am so thankful to have a man who loves me so well. I love him so much, more today than that first Valentine’s Day two years ago.

Happy Valentine’s Day Ryan!
