Playing Fetch

Last night I opened a new gallon of milk. Meow loves to play with the seal part of the lid, you know the part you pull off and usually throw away.

He was loving his new toy last night. He usually loses it within an hour, under the fridge, washer, behind the tv. Or he eats it. But last night when he was playing he would jump up on the ottoman by my feet and play, so I took it and threw it. He ran after it...but didn't bring it back. Then a little bit later we would repeat this, so not really playing fetch.

But! As I was falling asleep last night I felt him jump up on the bed next to me, and I looked, and there in his mouth was a blue ring. His milk lid thingy. I laughed and threw it. He played with it for just a second before jumping on the bed to do it all over again. We did this four or five times. It was so funny! My cat can play fetch, who knew. Such a smart cat...sometimes.

Learning Patience and being Grateful

I find myself in a very interesting state of mind. In fact, I think both Danielle and I do. We are both feeling change in our life, good change – but still change. Yet at the same time, that change can’t happen for a while. Have you ever been there?

I see and feel a change happening in my life and in my heart, but I can’t fingerpoint it. In fact, I think I know what it is – but God isn’t revealing it all to me. I like that because it assures me God knows my character and he knows my mind. I like things to happen fast and to happen now.

So, then I ask myself – what do I do now? If I think something is going to happen, how do I prepare for it? Better yet, how I do I prepare for today? I think that’s the first mystery I’m going to ask God to reveal to me.

As for what I think God is preparing us for, I think I’ll leave you hanging. Why reveal something that hasn’t been completely revealed to us.

Annoying Blog

I found this blog today called "My Husband is Annoying" (http://myhusbandisannoying.com/). I was appalled by the mere idea of it, let alone the content.

Can a wife really be that critical of her husband??

I learned a lesson from Ryan when we first started dating. It was how to respect him. The best way that I can do that is not to say anything that belittles or degrades him. Oh but, does he do silly things, or things that bug me? Sure!! But I do things that drive him nuts too!! But do I ever tear him down intentionally? Never!! I have the utmost respect for him, and when I begin to degrade him I am no longer showing him my respect, or my love.

I wouldn't expect anything less from him. I am supposed to be his cheerleader, his support, his help mate. I cannot be any of those things to him if I cannot respect him. And he cannot be those things to me if he cannot respect me, or feels like I don't respect him.

So, as I am getting off my soap box here, I understand people's senses of humor, but at what cost? Alienating and disrespecting the one you are supposed to put before everyone else, not worth the laughs to me.

Fall

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF FALL!!!

A little catching up for your Tuesday

I realized that it has been a while since I last blogged. So here are a few updates on life as we know it in the Hawes House.

1. I got a new job. Well, kind of. I am going to be moving to another branch that is two minutes down the road from where I am at now. I will still be a receptionist, but I will have more administrative duties. I am very excited about this.
2. Ryan made applesauce. He spent his day off yesterday peeling, slicing, boiling, and mashing apples until sauce was made. I am impressed, and so proud of him.
3. Meow is getting HUGE. We think he is of the Main Coone Breed. They turn out to be big kitties. Uh oh.
4. We are nearing our one year anniversary, I cannot believe how quickly this year has flown by.
5. I have been looking into Culinary Schools. At least trying to find a good cake decorating class, but I am striking out.
6. I also cannot find any good baking supply stores around us.
7. I have been learning that I am not a very patient person, and many reasons why I am not a teacher in any capacity.
8. Fall has finally arrived, with the exception of the 90 degree weather, but the trees are beautiful!
9. We spent Labor Day Weekend up in Woodinville Washington. It was a blast. We went to Chateau St. Michelle. It was amazing. We did their reserve tasting. You have to make reservations ahead of time, but it’s totally worth it. We were taken into this cool older room in the Chateau and they had the wine set out for you at a giant dining room table. It’s very private and enjoyable. We got to taste some of the best Chateau wines and visit with another couple who also did the tasting. It was much better than the crowded tasting room. It was definitely one of our best tasting experiences….including some of the ones in Napa Valley!
10. We think we finally found a home church. It’s a little further than we live, but if we can get plugged into a small group near us, we think the drive will make it worth our while. I feel so strongly about finding a home church in our neighborhood, but we have not found one that we have felt we could call “home”. So we are expanding our borders.

That’s about it for now…more to come…sometime.

A song for Thursday

This morning I drove Ryan's car, and I found my Forgiven Much Cd that he commandeered. I quickly played his favorite song on the cd...I don't the exact title, I think it's "My Faith has found a resting place"...anyways, Ry loves this song. It's been instrumental in his walk with the Lord, and I am not at all surprised when I really think about the words.

My faith has found a resting place
Not in device nor creed
I trust in the ever-living one
And His wounds for me shall plead
Enough for me that Jesus saves
This ends my fear and doubt
A sinful soul I come to Him
And He will never cast me out

(Chorus)
I don't need another argument, don't need another plea
It's enough that Jesus died and that He died for me
I don't need another argument, don't need another plea
It's enough that Jesus died and that He died for me

My heart is written on the Word, the written Word of God
Salvation is by my Savior's name, salvation by the Savior's blood
The great physician heals the sick, the lost He came to save
For me His precious blood He shed, for me His life He gave

(Chorus)

It is enough what He's done, how it makes me love Him
It is enough what He's done, I know I can trust Him
It is enough how He took the pieces of my soul
Blew life in them and made me whole
I found a resing place

(Chorus)
